What it does on your Mac

witness is signed by Robin Smedberg AB and notarized by Apple. It runs as you: it installs nothing that runs in the background, and it never asks for your password.

The app talks to witness.nu. A session runs your own Claude Code or Codex, signed in with your own accounts, on repositories in a folder you choose.

Updates download in the background from witness.nu, which sends the app on to GitHub for the file. Each one is checked against a key built into the app before it installs, and installs when you press Restart to update.

It asks macOS for one exception to its strictest settings: permission to compile code as it runs. The two programs inside the app that connect to Claude Code and Codex are built with Bun, which needs it.
